About
The health resort and convention center are located in the Blue Mountains near Sydney is made up of five areas namely the catering rooms, meeting board rooms, the accommodation and the spa. Each area is assigned a manager who works full time. It has a large kitchen that is capable of feeding up to hundred people like three meals in a given day. There are two such kitchens in the industry.
Other workers are hired casually to work in cases of retreats and other functions.
The accommodation can hold up to eighty people in double and twin rooms. The surrounding hospitality industry provides further accommodation if need be.
There is a spa that operates continuously in the building with steam rooms and saunas.
There is also an office of accounts with about five working stations. Most of the staff members operate with their own laptops connected to the computers.
Administration work is carried out in the office and at home.
1.Introduction
A lot of companies have not upgraded to learn and to be at per with the existing sustainability and environmental policies. The Blue Healer is a hospitality that is facing the challenge of energy inefficiencies in the company which are very costly when wasted. As a manager I am required to ensure that the study conducted will be a stepping stone to cost management. The study is also supposed to show case the impact of sustainability [procedures to the work team activities.
1.1.Key Findings (current work processes)
There are only two company cars which are yet to be updated. Old cars should be upgraded to avoid black smoke remission to the environment.
In lighting energy there exists an old florescent in the whole building. These lights are often left on even after the working hours and the cleaners turn them off after they are done with the work. Switching off the light helps in energy conservation.
There are no rules or procedures on the energy use for the staff members. Sustainability policies should be implemented.
The company lacks a policy for purchase of items and buys stuff when there’s a special offer at any time.
There is large stock of things like printing papers since the staff tend to purchase staff unnecessarily on an ad basis.
The office operates with contract cleaners that clean once a week and use regular cleaning products.
Kitchen waste is also thrown in the refute bin which makes recycling hard.
Both waste bins are used wrongly i.e. the recycling and the waste bins.

2.STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The purpose of this study was to investigate the company works and practices and to determine whether they comply with their sustainability policy and procedures.
3.SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
There is a number of people that may benefit from this study;
The staff in the industry who may learn and identify different methods of sustaining and maintaining the environment for both the industry and the public at large.
The CEO and the management who may act to implement rules in the company for sustainability purposes.
The stakeholders who may understand the budget plans for costs on policy implementation on sustainability.
The clients who may find it conducive to explore a good clean environment during their visit at the hotel.
The general public who may benefit from the clean environment maintained by the workers.

4.SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This study was limited to sustainability and policy plans, environmental regulations, efficiency procedures and sustainability policy and procedure methods in the Blue Healer Resort in the Mountains, Sidney.

4.1 Environmental regulations that apply
The importance of waste products disposal in a safe manner to ensure the garbage is well treated and collected for disposal by a waste contractor who is licensed.
Wastes disposal methods. Wastes in the business should be separated example the plastic, glass and the metals before collection to enable recycling.

4.1.1 Meeting sustainability obligations to improve the environment
To Have clear insights on how the environment is in terms of the resources used in the environment.
To Work with regulators. The industry is required to work closely with the local authorities for environmental regulation policy and implementation.
To adhere by accepting the Permit on policy standards on the activities of the industry aiming at reducing or curbing the environmental harm.
To Seek advice, this can be from the environmental specialists who can be employed for skilled guidance.
Ensuring a good way in which the wastes are stored and comply with rules on how to take control on the special kind of wastes like the chemicals and also enabling other good ways of disposing such wastes.
Making sure smoke pollution is controlled. Dark smokes can cause harm to the environment or a nuisance to health.
4.2.1 Procedures to access compliance with the environmental /sustainability regulations
Understand specific regulation and legislation methods and be at per with the environmental policy activities is the first step of compliance.
Be up to date with the environmental compliance support system to be up to date with environmental laws and sustainability standards.
Find out which laws are convergent with your organization and all the necessary tools and equipment that are necessary to comply with the procedures.

4.3 Relevant benchmarks for environmental and resource sustainability
To set goals for commitment on environmental sustainability.
To improve on Understanding environmental sustainability policies.
To Make follow up programs on the sustainability policy and ensure they are well implemented.

4.4 Efficiency tools to improve the company sustainability
Reuse programs in the company to ensure the environment is not lit with garbage from the industry.
Office energy conservations to save on the energy for future consumption and to reduce the costs.
Encourage sustainable transport to ensure that black smoke is not emitted into the air to cause health hazards.

5.METHODS OF STUDY
The Source of Data Required for the study was:
Textbooks and other reading and learning materials.
Internet access.
Data for this study was also collected using a questionnaire methodology where information was garnered from the general team in the industry. And general observation methods.
5.1.Limitations of the Study
The study was limited to the use of questionnaire as a method of data collection as it was entirely based inside the industry.
All attempts were made to ensure that the limitations were reduced however the study cannot be generalized as it was based inside the Blue Healer industry and no external party participated in the study.

6.1Introduction
This study was designed to determine the final opinions, to make viable suggestions and to make a summary for the study.
6.2FINDINGS
6.2.1Company Purchasing Strategies
I discovered that Pricing strategies are used in the industry where at times the management lowers prices to attract higher number of customers.
I found out that Innovative sales strategy has also been used in the company to draw more clients.
Customer service improvement strategies have also been seen to improve the company levels in terms of client attendance.

6.2.2.Members review on sustainability policy
I discovered that the team members have no idea about sustainability policies.
I observed that Majority of the team members do not know about the sustainability rules and environmental conservation methods.
I found out that there are a lot of team members in the industry doing little for the industry and the company still hires contract workers.
Sustainability specialists to consider
The Banksia Foundation Focused towards ensuring that the environment is entirely sustained and is a nonprofit organization with a purpose and an aim.
Australian Environment Business Network is in Austria to represent industries and businesses and ensures that industries are up to date with the legislative obligations.

6.2.3Review on energy usage
I noted that energy is being used carelessly and overused in the company. Workers don’t bother switching off the lights as the day caves in.
I found out that the chemicals in regular detergents used in cleaning can cause harm to the human health.
6.3Company purchasing strategies
6.3.1Review on cost
I discovered that a lot of energy was been misused in the industry.
This study was designed to see determine the common environmental and efficiency issues in the environment.

7.CONCLUSIONS
Company technology should be upgraded.
Energy conservation efficient methods to be adopted. Switching off the light after working hours for energy conservation.
Purchasing policy should be implemented, only the items that are necessary for stationary use be bought to avoid filling the garbage bin and littering the environment.

Efficiency Targets should be met.
For good human health and wellbeing where the black smokes are minimized in transportation.
For affordable and clean energy.
For energy conservation policy implementation.
